Your Future Starts with the TSIA2
What is the TSIA2?
The TSIA, Texas Success Initiative Assessment, helps determine whether you’re ready for college-level coursework in English language arts ad reading (ELAR) and mathematics. The results of TSIA2, in conjunction with your academic background, goals and interests, are used by counselors to place you in the appropriate courses that match you achievement level.
Why does the TSIA2 matter to PSJA?
The Texas Assessment Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is the assessment instrument used to determine college readiness for non-exempt students, as required by the Texas Success Initiative. TSIA2 helps determine whether you’re ready for college-level coursework in English language arts and reading (ELAR) and mathematics. These are foundational subjects for your other college coursework. The results of TSIA2, in conjunction with your academic background, goals, and interests, are used by academic advisers and counselors to place you in the appropriate courses that match your achievement level.
For Freshman: As you begin to think about your college journey, it is important to learn about the TSIA2 and the requirements you will need to apply for dual credit.
For Sophomores: Taking the TSIA2 as a sophomore is an important step to be a part of a PSJA Academy. The TSIA2 opens a multitude of opportunities for you including college courses, PSJA Academy, start, and preparing for your future.
For Juniors: Taking the TSIA2 your junior year allows you to complete a college requirement ahead of time.
It is important to know what scores on the SAT or ACT are required to be exempt from TSIA2. If you do not pass every section of the TSIA2 you can retake it as a senior and enroll in a PSJA Academy.
For Seniors: If you are planning on attending a college or university in Texas, you are required to have passed the TSIA2 unless you are exempt
